Convening at the Intersection of Trauma, Faith and Resilience to Connect, Learn, Heal, and Serve
Event provides opportunity to connect, learn and be inspired
All are invited to “Convening at the Intersection of Trauma, Faith and Resilience to Connect, Learn, Heal, and Serve,” 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 30, at Chicago Teacher’s Union Foundation, 1901 W. Carroll Ave., Chicago.
The day will provide the opportunity to network, attend workshops and hear inspiring speakers, including keynote speaker, Dr. Iva Carruthers, a founding trustee and General Secretary of the Samuel DeWitt Proctor Conference, an interdenominational organization within the African American faith tradition focused on social justice issues.
Workshop topics will include “Faith Community Stories: Journeys to Becoming Healing Engaged,” “Restorative Justice Practices: A Relationship Building Approach,” “Collective Resilience and Healing,” and “Inequities and Oppression in Faith Communities.”
The event also will include a “Share Fair” that allows participants to showcase their trauma-informed and healing-engaged resources, programs and experiences.
“The event will provide the opportunity to connect with each other, learn together about concrete actions we can take to create trauma-responsive and healing-engaged congregations and communities, heal and nourish our own spirits, and prepare ourselves to model and guide transformation across our communities,” said Rev. Dr. Shirley Fleming of the Chicagoland Trauma Informed Congregations Network.
To register, visit https://faithandresilience.eventbrite.com. Registration fee is $30. Student’s fee is $15. Scholarships are available. To participate in the Resource Share Fair, complete the application by January 10.

The event is presented by the Chicagoland Trauma Informed Congregation Network, an interfaith table that brings together faith-rooted organizations and others that are interested in using our collective wisdom to respond to the call to facilitate and deepen the role of faith communities in recognizing and creating “safe and brave spaces” that support the healing of trauma experienced by individuals and communities.
